About the Author
David has always lived an outdoor life and has an abiding love and knowledge of the countryside and it`s nature, both flora and fauna.
As a boy, David was very much involved in the horse world, both with the preparation and the riding of ponies and horses in major showjumping, eventing and ridden showing competitions. Later, David spent a number of happy years as a national Hunt Jockey, riding many winners in his career.
Later, he was invited to become a professional motorcycle rider for the Harley Davidson team and travelled to many countries demonstrating for them. Along the way, he also managed to spend time in the music industry which greatly added to an already exciting lifestyle.
Following a great deal of travel, he yearned for a more settled life in the Kent countryside and now lives and works on the Kent and Sussex borders, carrying out estate maintenance work when he is not writing.
About the Illustrator
Bernadette and and her Husband live in a medieval farmhouse, deep in the Kent countryside on the edge of Romney Marsh with five Labradors and a Jack Russell, 2 horses and numerous rare breed fowl.
By Profession, Bernadette is a Senior Therapeutic Radiographer having trained at Bart`s Hospital, London and at the Inselspital, Berne, Switzerland. Returning from Switzerland, Bernadette was working as both a radiographer and with horses, working her way up the British Horse Society ladder of qualifications.
Drawing and painting animals has always been a passion and as a result of a commission by David for a portrait of his lurcher, the character of Bogg finally became visible for this series of Children`s books.
About Bogg and his Friends
David has always been `doggy` and although he bred pedigree Rhodesian Ridgebacks, Bogg was his first lurcher, a constant companion and great character. Bogg loved his creature comforts, particularly the sofa next to a blazing log fire. He was very clever, perhaps some would say artful, and could open the fridge door without a sound. His great weakness was Cheddar Cheese and he would go to great lengths to snaffle a piece. In fact, he could wake in an instant from the deepest of dreams if the click of the cheese box lid was heard.
He was named Bogg due to the fact that he always looked as though he had been pulled through a hedge backwards, however carefully he had been groomed. He loved children and was at his happiest sitting with them and having a lot of fuss made of him. He was most affable with other dogs and had a wide circle of friends as he was constantly visiting neighbouring farms and estates with David. If an abiding image of Bogg had to be described, it would be a shaggy head protruding from David`s truck window with a huge pair of equally shaggy ears flying like two hairy kites in the slipstream, mouth open and long pink tongue lolling happily as the sights and scents of the countryside wafted by.
In the first Adventure, Storm and Buster Patterson accompany Bogg on a clandestine visit to the circus. They are both real life characters, described with their respective owner`s blessings. As the stories unfold, you can look out for more canine scallywags joining in the fun.
